The significance of second degree atrioventricular block and bundle branch block. Observations regarding site and type of block.
His bundle (H) electrograms were recorded in 15 patients with second degree atrioventricular (A-V) block and bundle branch block and these patients were prospectively followed. Site of block was proximal to H in four (BPH), distal to H in nine (BDH), and undetermined in two (studied during 1:1 conduction). Surface electrocardiographic features were retrospectively examined to determine the valu...

1) While it is possible only one type of second-degree AV block exists electrophysiologically, the available data do not justify such a conclusion and it would seem more appropriate to remain a "splitter," and advocate separation and definition of multiple mechanisms, than to be a "lumper," and embrace a unitary concept. 2) The clinical classification of type I and type II AV block, based on pr...
متن کاملElectrophysiologic and pathologic correlations in two cases of chronic second degree atrioventricular block with left bundle branch block.
This study concerns two cases of chronic 2 degrees atrioventricular (A-V) block with left bundle branch block (LBBB). Pathological studies included serial section of the conduction systems. Case 1 had type I 2 degrees block with LBBB. Electrophysiological studies revealed type I 2 degrees block proximal to the His bundle recording site and a prolonged H-V interval (60 msec). Pathologically ther...
متن کاملSignificance of exercise-induced second degree atrioventricular block.
A case of second degree, type II, atrioventricular block precipitated by exercise is presented. It is suggested that exercise and other vagolytic manoeuvres may be used as a means of differentiating type I from type II atrioventricular block: the conduction disturbance of type I improves with exercise, whereas that of type II deteriorates with exercise.
متن کاملBradycardia-dependent bundle branch block during Mobitz I second degree heart block.
B radycardia-dependent bundle branch block is a relatively infrequent form ofrate-dependent bun-dIe branch block. When it occurs in the setting of Mobitz I second degree heart block, it must be differentiated from ventricular escape and from Mo-bitz II block, both of which are much more common causes of wide QRS complexes. The differential diagnosis is important since Mobitz II block has a poor...
